a xiamen story

really sorry z.k., for ripping off ur screen name.

sometimes you need to go away to find out what you have.
well, back from xiamen and the world choir games.
whee
the first day there was fun... new experiences, new scenary.... alot of new things
then of course the stress of the competition kicked in. For once i had a common goal with the others..... so i really fitted in.
for a while.
We practice hard. we tried our best. Then of course something happened on stage and we nearly screwed up.
big ouch.
When everyone around you is depressed... its hard not to get affected. for some weird reason i was not upset at our performance... even though i was sure we were going to lose.....
the pain of seeing some people cry.
the next day was..... interesting. considering that some people got drunk after the competition.... but no. we did not go and act like idiots on our sightseeing tour.
we acted like idiots inside the hotel.... as there was a typoon and everything was cancelled. it was fun screaming Binama in the hotel, and then the typoon alert thing went down from orange to yellow.
ah the power of music.
of course i am abit sick of chinese right now..... but it was interesting listening to them trying to speak english. wonderful horror
then of course came the awards ceramony. everyone was holding hands when it came to the catergory we were in...... since they announced from the bottom up, when they announce the first gold, it meant that we at least got a gold. we were all cheering....
then of course they said it was time to announce the grand champion.
and our choir's name had not been announced.
going from depression to joy was an incredible feeling. then running onto the stage to sing the national anthem. wow. we were the only winners who were not wearing a 'uniform'... so it was a flash of colour..... everyone laughing and crying with joy....
well.
so the next day was our last morning in xiamen. and everyone was sleeping due to exhaustion from... i dunno... partying? i slept the earliest i think.
funny though... walking around in the morning looking for someone... then i realised that everyone was all over the place.... gals in guys rooms and guys in gals room....
goodness i think i scared alot of people..... walking into their unlocked rooms.... lol. i'm sorry..... well. ok. i could not recognise any of you when you were asleep so basically my search was in vain.
at least i finally managed to do some shopping on the last day. basically i also had the chinese word for hope craved onto a 'stamp'.... but was too much in a rush to actually have it packed. haha... but i did some shopping with the gals while the guy was carving the thing.... unfortunatly. i did not have enough time to get everyone something.
someone called Karen is angry with me.
urgh.
sigh.
we were all exhausted on the flight back.... well this trip has given me alot to think about....
maybe thinking about somethings is a bad idea.....
yours thoughtfully,
cisvol
